Bungy Jump in Macau

Along with Hong Kong, Macau is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) in China. What this means is that both SARs belong to the same quasi-Communist country club, but follow a different set of rules. The one-time Portuguese colony has Old World charm, casinos, and one memorable bungy jump. New Zealander AJ Hackett is widely credited as having introduced bungee jumping to the masses in the late 1980’s, both as a pioneer jumper and entrepreneur. His operation is the brain behind turning a TV tower into a sky-high urban playground. For now, Hackett’s Macau Tower is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s highest commercial bungy jump.

Getting There :
Macau is a 45 minute ferry boat ride from Hong Kong. You can depart from the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal, near the IFC Towers in the Shun Tak Center, or from the Sky Pier at the Hong Kong International Airport.

Note from Robin :
Such is the height of the Macau bungy, jumpers are stabilized with two guide ropes. The platform is 233m high, and you'll stop bouncing about 30m above the ground to be lowered onto a landing pad. Your ticket includes a T-shirt, discounts at Macau Tower. You can also jump at night, when the bright lights of Macau's casinos dazzle their magic. You can jump with a Go Pro, and can even rent a costume. The trick with bungy jumping: Don't stick around on that platform too long. During the filming of my TV show, I had to stand there for a half hour while the cameraman filmed multiple angles. I don't think I've every truly recovered!
